Whenever Sweet Honey In The Rock perform, the whole world listens. And the women gather... The African-American a capella sextet has shaken up, inspired, healed and transformed audiences for 34 years. This we celebrate. From their beginnings in the Civil Rights movement, Sweet Honey's members recreate history and explore contemporary issues through their breathtaking harmonies, innovative improvisation, and stunning vocal acrobatics. They travel the world performing with voice, hand and foot percussion. Their songs celebrate diversity, promote freedom and cry out for justice.

With a rich blend of musical styles, from gospel to blues, jazz, reggae, folk, rap and hymns, these five highly accomplished women generate enough passion and beauty to tear the roof off any ordinary theatre. In these uncertain political times, we need the wisdom and comfort of Sweet Honey even moreso. "A Sweet Honey In The Rock performance is less concert than conversation--a jubilant, emotionally-fired dialogue that takes audiences not out of this world, but more deeply into it". - The Washington Post

The Sweet Honey in the Rock Project 2008-9 returns to the Twin Cities in March 2009!
